Ani L'Dodi Wrap Ring

April 2015
14 karat white gold

This ring is a reproduction of a ring I first made in 2009. The original came out beautifully, but I'd always wanted the chance to make it again as I acquired better tools and improved at my craft. Fortunately for me, a client fell in love with it and asked me to make her a copy.

The text that runs the circumference of the ring is אני לדודי ודודי לי (ani l'dodi, v'dodi li), which translates to "I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine." The difficulty with inscribing this phrase on a band this narrow is that it has two lamed letters (ל) in the phrase that extend above the rest of the text. In this design the letters fill the outer surface of the ring, so the tops of the lameds are forced to wrap whimsically around the shank to the inside of the ring.
