Bending Cross
July 2007
Sterling silver
My friend Jenn, having overcome several challenges in her life, decided to publicly to reaffirm her faith and to be baptized within her church. Her husband at the time commissioned this piece to commemorate the event. The bending and skewing of this cross is symbolic of the trials she's been through and that she's sure to face in life, and signifies that while adversity may bend her out of shape it will never break her bond with God. The loop of the bale (shown here without a chain for clarity) makes the down piece look kind of like a shepherd's crook, giving it some nice Twenty-Third Psalm action as well.
