Sunrise Pearl Pendant
December 2019
Kauaʻi sunrise shell, Tahitian pearl, 14 karat gold
A friend to the family gave me a Kauaʻi sunrise shell (a.k.a. a Langford Pecten, a type of scallop) when he heard that my niece's name means "dawn," so that I could make her a piece of jewelry with it. I ground off the calcification on the back of the shell to reveal the beautiful yellows, added a peach-colored Tahitian pearl to compliment the pinks on the inside of the shell.
