The Shoshana Rose
December 2007
Sterling silver
The Hebrew name Shoshanah is most commonly translated as "Rose," in spite of its Biblical Hebrew origins as meaning "Lily." The language has evolved to allow both meanings, and most daughters named Rose by their parents are also called Shoshanah.
This pendant with its simple and elegant line drawing of a rose has a hidden message—the lines of the design are completely made up of the cursive letters of the Hebrew name Shoshanah (albeit somewhat stylized in some cases). As the second image shows, each letter comes together to physically represent the meaning of the name they spell!
